There really is a lot of extra room, about as much as in WT+ on long-haul. At least, there is enough for me to be able to walk/shuffle past the passengers sitting in the middle and aisle seats on the way to the window.

Drawbacks are no recline and no coathook, but on a short flight, it is wonderful to have all the extra space. People who value recline may not like it, but I rarley if ever use the recline (even on long-haul WT).

I always manage to snag 9A for my AMS-LHR runs when I do OLCI; it is my favorite short haul seat, better than any of the seats in Club Europe in my opinion. Sort of the short-haul equivalent of 62A/K. Lots of space to spread out and relatively easy to gain access to the aisle.
