FYI, all worked out totally fine, but we had a minor scare on car return. We inspected our car and even did a video of the whole car, especially spots where they had noted existing damage and spots where we found other damage. Big scratches on hood (like someone had driven under a truck in front of them) were NOT noted and when we reported, the guy said "that's not reportable damage because it is superficial" -- we said, no, 24 inches on each side, so he recorded the damage for us. (On return, agent said that damage was not a problem btw.) Here's our issue... their form noted damage on passenger side door. We couldn't find it. The agent couldn't find it. We recorded the door and moved on. When we returned the car, the guy found damage UNDER the front fender like from hitting a curb maybe (they also inspect hub caps for curb burn). We said it wasn't us. Of course, we did not record the bottom of the car. Finally we said, fine, file it and I'll let Chase manage. We went inside, I was starting to google how to handle the situation for Visa when he says "you're fine".
Turns out they have pictures of every damage they record on the car. He decided to look and found that the "door" damage was actually the damage in question. Someone had mis-keyed it into their system. He cleared us to go.
Moral: inspect the underside of the cars, and know they have images of any damage they have on file.
(We declined all but the mandatory insurance.)
