With access to the First wing and the egates, I would say it is very likely to be quicker to go through passport control then F wing ( on most occasions)

However, in tight connections, this would delay the OP to be "Ready to Fly" at Heathrow which might cause issues at short connections. In addition at misconnections, BA could use the claim that the OP did not follow the signs and took the incorrect path so might not even accept responsibility for a misconnection if the situation is tight.
