I agree the trip to Maldives will be once in a lifetime, maybe haha. We got married less than a year ago and technically honeymoon’ed in Aruba, but hey why not take a second honeymoon. We’re going to Vietnam to visit family after Maldives, so this will be quite a long trip.
Ok so in summary, it looks like the first recommendation was slightly for KLM and yours is for AF, But I agree 1 connection vs 2 is superior. I just wanted to make sure about premiums seats (ex. Free comfort plus, and whether there’s a 5% chance of a first class upgrade vs 0% type of thing). Any comment on that, is there a snow balls chance at a first class upgrade with either airline as a Platinum?
First Class upgrade definitely isn’t happening with Air France. I would not count on an upgrade of any form. I’ve never experienced one and my understanding is that Air France takes care of their own first.
To be fair, note that one of the big discriminators for me is ground and in-flight food and beverage. There are people who prefer KLMs food and beverage. Of course, there are also people who prefer Spirit Airlines 😀
