Firstly, this hotel is gorgeous! We were warmly welcomed with hand towels and a welcome drink by staff while our personal concierge escorted us to our room and showed us all of the workings of the showers, lights etc. As diamond members we were upgraded from a standard to a deluxe room which is the exact same room but with maybe a better view? The rooms are very large and well appointed and the soaking tub on the balcony was fantastic! Some rooms have a lot more privacy on the balcony than others so this might be something to take into consideration when booking. Turn down service was extra special with a little souvenir box with chocolates and tea service provided each evening.
Service at the pool was outstanding with chilled waters provided each day and a great selection of drinks ranging in price from MXN 360 to MXN 400. All staff made an effort to remember and greet us by name each day and constantly check in to see if we needed anything.
We ate at Chaya each day for breakfast which was outstanding. We were usually so full that no lunch was needed. Dinner at both Chaya and Malpeque were delicious with dinner at Chaya running about $150 for two and $250 at Malpeque. This is where our rental car came in so handy! The town of Puerto Morelos is an easy 15 minute drive from the resort (with most of that drive being the resort road with 16 speed bumps through the mangrove) with a selection of great restaurants and a lively central square. We ate the remaining three dinners here for about $60 for two!
The only downside to this resort (and it is a big one) is the beach. I knew not to expect typical Cancun blue waters but it was still disappointing to not be able to really enjoy going out into the surf due to the murky water and abundance of seagrass. As a beach walker it is also unpleasant to have to walk past the beach areas adjacent to the hotel which are undeveloped and full of trash and piled up seaweed.
Was it a lovely and incredible trip? Yes! Will we go back? No. The quality of the beach is just too much of a factor for me even with all of the other positives.
I am happy to answer any questions as I am sure that I have forgotten lots of details.

khgagne thanks a mil for sharing! we ourselves will be at the Hilton Cancun AI for 5 nights and then door at the Waldorf Cancun for 3 nights next week.
Since both the Hilton and the Waldorf are technically linked together- did you meander over to the Hilton side to use their facilities? Apart from the wristbands I’m curious on how they plan on distinguishing guests.
Also did you encounter the Hilton AI hoi poi on the Waldorf grounds or pools?
Lastly can you share the WA restaurant menu links?
cheers!!!
