Today I was told That is incorrect, and that I should ONLY get the the TP for what I paid for and not for the class I upgrade to. So now I have a 160 TP too little instead of just 5.
I am so gutted I could cry.
Is this really true? Am I, as he put it really lucky over the years?
As others have said, you were lucky. I only ever got TP for the flights/class I actually paid for – and that makes sense.
Otherwise, you could argue that someone who redeemed miles not to upgrade, but to fly Business Class should get Business Class TPs, too, because they flew in that cabin. People paying for WTP and upgrading normally only get WTP TPs.
