Well, noob question then — what might cause this? And how / when might I be able to book this with VS miles? I called them today, but the agents can't see the space.
there is nothing strange in this and this is very frequent. Airlines are controlling the inventory space they are allocating to their partners and they usually allocate less award capacity to partners compared to their own FFP members. You may not be able to book it at all with VS miles. Although, with VS joining Skyteam, it is possible that they will allocate more to VS in the future but no guarantee.
