Hi, I'm a United flyer, but am so tempted to try ANA to visit Japan and would like to know if I can use mile United Miles to book a ticket on ANA? Also, if I was to purchase a ticket on ANA, would I be able to submit for an upgrade using my United miles?

I know, it's a newb question, I did a search but did find what I was looking for and Flyertalk is always such a great resource.
