No it's not possible to combine within a single PNR. Even if it were you'd still be ticketed separately and not as a connection. The only way you could accomplish this is by booking the connecting BA flight at the same time and be thru ticketed to London. However as you rightly mention availability for both flights would be required at the same time which may not reflect reality.
