It is quite common for kaiseki restaurants to offer the remaining rice to take home, typically they will make it in to onigiri for lunch or breakfast the following day. I have even had this at Michelin 3 star restaurants. The rice is part of the pride of the chef and the restaurant.
Thank you for the explanation! Had we had a way to store and reheat the turnip rice, we absolutely would've taken it away. It was delicious.
