for me one of the most practical things is bending the rules. properties will let me have 5 or 6 pm checkout instead of 4. checking in so early in the morning most would call it late night. that costs them nothing. they already werent going to turn those rooms, they just give me a no cost perk. Letting me stay late at the pool. stuff like that has no added cost.
when it comes to things that might cost a property money, like sourcing a special food, or getting a christmas tree for the room over the holidays, stuff like that - none of that is a marriot expectation nor an ambassador perk.
I only mentioned the plate of munchies and a card because that is a common amenity and it has some cost associated with it. I cant think of any desirable EXPECTED ambassador perks that have any meaningful expenses for the properties, can you?
and yes. i know there are FAR fewer cobalt guests. I'm simply saying that at some point marriot does not mind making hotels go out of their way. yes, there are far more ambassadors. but the things marriot expects hotels do do for them are far less troublesome.
Something I think would be really cool and valuable would be various experiences at hotels you're not staying at: a bathroom pass that would let you use any lobby bathroom at hotels in NYC, free conference rooms if they're not being used, etc. It would be a weird thing to market but would actually be super valuable, and cost the hotels little to nothing.
