For Hawaii they run a lot of the tired/worn 800s as opposed to the newer 900s or Max. The main downside (for me anyway) is these planes only have 12 FC seats as opposed to the newer ones having 16 so less upgrade chance. Someone pointed out to me on another thread that it's probably planned since there aren't as many business travelers who would be more likely to buy up the FC seats.
