SO MUCH THIS - Do NOT tell the GA - it will confuse them and 99.99% chance they will screw it up - they are good at what they do, but you start asking them things out of the ordinary and the wheels will fall off
As everyone else said - just swap boarding passes after you scan them at he GA desk (presumably down the jet bridge where GA can't see you - or on the plane and sit down - tell the Purser if you like
My flight yesterday was musical chairs - A320 - 12 seats in FC and 3 couples were separated - the FA waited to serve PDB until after the swaps occurred - and when taking food orders she asked where is Mr XX (They had a pre order) as she figured he wasn't in his real seat after the musical chairs game.
