That is unacceptable on two fronts.
Firstly, crew should be following the service standards unless there’s good reason to deviate from those standards. I was previously cabin crew with BA (and an in-charge crewmember) and there is no way I would allow this to happen. It’s a slippery slope from there, to crew doing whatever they want without consequences. That’s why the vast majority of crew stick to the published standards. It’s not difficult.
Secondly, customers will start to notice, especially frequent flyers in the front row. Why irritate them for no good reason ?
I can forgive the odd transgression, but if we start to see this go unchallenged we are heading to the point where some crew will just do whatever suits them and not the customer - including cutting bar rounds !
It might be a minor point in the grand scheme of things, but I don’t think BA can afford to ignore minor details like this.
