Hello. I currently have JAL biz class ticketed using AA miles from CLT>DFW>NRT

My question is if the first class becomes available from DFW>NRT, is it better to put that flight on hold before calling AA to upgrade the biz to first?

or will the agent not be able to upgrade the biz class because the first class hold removed it from inventory?
