As a day-to-day card it doesn't provide much benefit to me - I already have elite status on AA so I don't need the priority boarding and free checked bag, and other cards (like my Amex) earn more points even for American Airlines purchases. I'm not a "whale" when it comes to credit cards anyway, perhaps $30k maximum in personal spending every year (business expenses have to go on my non-points-earning corporate card unfortunately).

Trying to think through my strategy for the best Citi cards to use & keep once the next annual fee for my AA card comes due. I know that Citi usually allows product changes even for the AA cards, so if I switch it to a Double Cash there would be no annual fee and I could earn 2x TYP per $ for everything. Then, if I apply for a new Citi Premier account I could benefit from the 80k TYP sign up bonus and the 3x earning on certain categories. If I carried both cards, I could use the Double Cash for the 2x on everything else and pool the Thank You Points together into one account, correct?

Also, my wife has had a Double Cash card since it first came out (2014?) so are we able to combine TYP from both accounts?

Seems like a win/win to me to have both the Double Cash and Premier. Transferable points to airlines is mainly what I'm looking for in terms of rewards. Anything I'm missing here?
I'd rather convert to Custom Cash, more useful card than a DC. Don't you have another 2x earning card, such as Venture X, BBP?
