Would you walk them out? He went back to the manager. I kept checking my phone and the suites all disappeared online. 15 minutes later he came back and said it was a glitch but they could upgrade us to the regency accessible suite. I wasn’t expecting this but gladly accepted.
Good for you for pushing back. Even though it sounds like there truly was a glitch in this instance, a polite inquiry into what would happen if you booked the suite that shows available online has also worked for me.

They had cookies and snacks and a fridge full of soda and water. My wife went down and the lady working was in back. She came out and was extremely rude to my wife acting like she shouldn’t be in there. She gave our last name and the lady made her feel extremely uncomfortable. She was simply grabbing a coffee and a cookie to go.
I've certainly seen lounges that enforce a no-takeout rule. I don't think the properties are obligated to let you take anything out, although coffee and other non-alcoholic beverages are pretty much universally fair game. (I don't think they are obligated to give you a reason why, either, but an obvious reason could be that they don't want guests with lounge access taking food to their friends or family in other rooms who don't have lounge access.) In any event, I wouldn't presume an entitlement to take food out of the lounge.
