SO given above, I have a related question to using points. I had two recent 1-night stays in Thailand and both times I wanted to deplete my ~8k points balance. I told the hotel upon check in about the intent to use points and in both cases they said the Accor system only allowed them to redeem 2k points and not more regardless that I had more points available for redemption.
Something like that had happened before at the Raffles in Singapore and they solved it only by keeping my stay folio open for an extra 2-3 days and then deducting 2k points per additional night. This can't be the right way to go about it?
Anything I may be doing wrong or is this a known Accor issue? Appreciate any insights.
I have never heard of a redemption limit of 2k points per day of stay. I routinely redeem my points balance on hand (in multiples of 2k) on every hotel stay. If we could only redeem 2k points per stay, I'd have a perpetually increasing points balance, always accruing more than I could redeem. That doesn't sound right.
Although nothing surprises me with Accor systems. I've run into strange things before. I had always thought redemptions had to be 2k points at a time, until this past summer in Geneva, where I was able to redeem 13,000 points (also a 1-night stay), as that hotel had the ability to redeem in multiples of 1,000 points. I'd not seen that before, or since.
