First you'll absolutely want to apply for the Premier before the PC of the AA card to the Double Cash. Citi can and has considered that PC action as starting the 48 month clock on SUB ineligibility for TYP products. At least that happened to me when I did an identical thing with an AA->Rewards+. Possible DC is different since it's technically cash back. I wouldn't risk it though. I'm sure others will chime in if I'm wrong.
Secondly I don't think you can directly pool TYPs with your wife. Though you can probably transfer into the same FF program as long as you're an AU on her card or vice versa.
You will be able to pool the points from both of the accounts you have open under your name. Just requires a phone call to Citi usually. Pretty painless.
