I was flying to Sao Paulo in WT but the magic beep and 'seek assistance' message appeared. Flight was overbooked and i was upgraded to WT+ for the very first time in my life with BA.
Amenity kit, blanket and pillow: All of them were good and i quite liked the blanket. Long enough and the amenity kit had the essentials apart from ear plugs but not a big deal.
IFE: Lots of films to watch and the screen was big enough. No scratches either.
Seat: Now the seat was tight. I have flown with Eva air, Iberia, Luftansa and SAS in premium economy before and BA seat felt a bit tighter than the other PE products. I am not sure how accurate seatguru is but it seems that BA PE seat has windth less than 18 compare to the other airlines that have between 18-20. I think the last time i flew with BA in PE was many years ago and i cannot remember the exact seat but the A350 seat was not good.
Food: I have ordered the kosher meal and i had a conversation with the FA. I explained to her that i am happy to have any of the PE meals if they are available but she told me that is not an option and 'i have to have' the kosher meal which i found in bizarre. She told me that at the end of the meal service she will come back if they have any meals left but she did not. Just to be clear, the kosher meal was lovely but i am sure they had a few extra meals or at least enough PE meals for the whole cabin.
The breakfast meal was even more bizarre. The same FA came and told me that i cannot have any of the 2 options on the menu ( i did not request any of them anyway as i knew from the previous service that her answer will be no) and that she will serve my special meal at the end. After the whole cabin was served with the meal i could see at least 3,4 meals on the trolley but i did not say anything and i waited for my special meal. The same FA appeared and told me that they do not have a special meal for me and that the only option left is the full english breakfast. The whole situation was very weird.
Service: The service was quite disorganised and slow. From the confusion regarding the meals to the extremely slow food service. The first meal service was all together 2 hours and 15 minutes which was ridiculous for a PE cabin. Similar issue with the breakfast. Service started about 2 hours before landing which is fine but then nobody came to collect anything for approx 1 hour. People started taking the trays to the club world. I understand there are some issues with A350 space but it is poor. I felt sorry for the staff trying their best.
Something also very weird i noticed, the FA were giving hot towels to the club suite cabin passengers during boarding. Yes, they were giving them while the plane was on the ground. I never seen this before and everytime i flew in Business or First, the hot towels are given before the dinner or/and after. Is this normal for BA?
To sum up a positive experience. Flight was pretty much on time, food was good, IFE and amenities very good.
