Pleasant One Night Stay November 2022

I recently stayed at the Hyatt Place Zurich Airport The Circle for one night. Despite having no history or status on my WoH account I had a great stay and was very pleased with this new and modern property.

Especially the cozy and creative design and the pleasant and casual atmosphere of the huge lobby, including the reception area, zoom bar and restaurant has made a lasting positive impression. There are workstations, a printer and departures / arrivals displays for ZRH airport as well.

The booking was for a 2 Twin Beds View room. I put in a high floor request and was very happy with the 7th floor airport view room I was given. I did not request the park view as I have another stay at the HR next door coming up where I will probably enjoy the park view, so I am happy to experience rooms on both sides once. The airport view from the high floor was actually enjoyable, watching the traffic flow on the ramps towards the airport parking, the trams pass by and a little peak of the airport action past the Radisson.

The room, even with the large twin beds, is very spacious with 31 sqm. The condition was immaculate which can be expected considering the property opened less than a year ago.

I found the mattresses to be a bit on the soft side, which isn’t my personal preference, but they were very comfortable nevertheless. The pillows where thick and firm. Like others have mentioned (and possibly similar to the Hyatt Regency) the temperature control goes down to 18 deg C, but it doesn’t stick, it will revert to 21 deg C iirc. There are no windows that can be opened. The slight noise of the aircon did not bother me at night.
The round table might be bothersome for doing extended serious work however the Cozy Corner sofa is very comfortable and I would happily work all day and night on it with its movable laptop table. This feature also allows two persons to have a place to use their laptops which is great.

The safe fits a laptop or two and there is an ironing board hidden underneath the bed next to the window. There is no Nespresso machine and no water provided. The tap water is fine unless your preference is carbonated water, which is easily purchased at one of the large supermarkets inside the adjacent shopping center (Coop, Migros etc).

The gym is not huge but has all the essentials with Technogym machines as well as free weights.

When dinging / drinking at Zoom bar or restaurant and using the digital ordering system, you can select charge to the room in the drop down menu as opposed to credit card payment, to make sure that your incidental spending counts towards your eligible spend for earning WoH points and towards lifetime globalist status. If you prefer to use a credit card and still want the spend to count, you can try to approach reception with the invoice number to link it to your account or rather opt to order at the bar where you can make sure your WoH account number is added I suppose.

I was quoted 64 CHF for breakfast for two when I asked for it in the morning, since I did not have it included in the rate and did not book it as an add-on before my stay.
If you like breakfast and have no status that would give you free breakfast, it might make much more sense to do a Hyatt Privee booking (min 2 nights though) at the Hyatt Regency next door because the room rates are pretty similar. This would give you daily full breakfast for two in the hotel’s restaurant plus a $50 property credit per room per stay.

The location is obviously very convenient if you are flying, but even if not, The Circle is a nice area to explore, to shop at or to visit the airports observation deck that is open to the public for a small fee. (If you have a boarding pass it's free)

Even with heavy luggage or a luggage trolley from the airport, both Hyatt properties can be reached easily without obstacles or stairs. Wherever there are stairs, there are also elevators. When coming through the tunnel, you are covered for almost the entire way from the airport. There are about 20 or so meters before you reach the entrance of the Hyatt Place that are not covered by a roof where you could get wet if there was rain or snow. But it’s such a short section, it’s no big deal. You could also survive this short distance in winter in a t-shirt if you were travelling without any warm clothes whatsoever. The airport and shopping center are quite warm even when it’s almost freezing outside.

In the Hyatt app, there were options for Hyatt Digital Check-in as well as Hyatt Mobile Entry. While Digital Check-in worked well, a visit to FD was still required to check in. I activated Mobile Entry in the app on both an Android as well as an iOS device and everything appeared to be active but neither worked to unlock the door. When I asked FD they informed me that the property so far never enabled the functionality since they opened last year. This was slightly confusing because according to the app the feature is available at this Hyatt Place. Nevermind I just stick the key card into my phone case and pretend lol.

I am adding a few more photos.

It will be interesting to see how this stay compares to the Hyatt Regency Zurich Airport The Circle with park view.
