I agree. The agent @ AA agreed as well, and was truly perplexed (which is why he took the question to his supervisor). But I have called Qatar twice and AAdvantage award travel twice, and they both said a seat could not be assigned until 24 hours before the flight OR when at the airport! I will keep calling and make myself a nuisance I guess.
