Have you heard anything about the Fufu Hakone? It just opened in January 2022 so reviews are very sparse. I’ve been planning a trip for January/Feb and the top Hakone onsens you listed are booked but you have good reviews of the 3 Fufu properties you’ve tried.
We were thinking of trying out this property next month but opted for Fufu Nara instead.
Not many reviews on Japanese sites, either. All I know is that it was built from the ground-up, has 39 rooms (which is large, but Hakone ryokans are larger - on average - than typical luxury ryokans elsewhere. Gora Kadan has the exact same # of rooms) and all rooms have an onsen bath.
The room layouts seem to be similar to other Fufu properties, including the room naming. Most are open-plan rooms (Junior Suite style), with the Luxury Corner Suites and Luxury Premium Suites being the true suites of the lot.
The Fufu group also owns the longstanding Hakone Suishoen - if service levels at Suishoen are anything to go by, you should have an excellent stay.
