To me, the issue isnt if it "fits" or doesnt fit , or is allowed or not.

Why the big deal to check it?,

You've got a connection, perhaps want to enjoy a lounge on the trip, its always a burden to carry bags around and airport esp with connections.

Is if that you want to save yourself 10 minutes at your final destination>?
