There really aren't that many blackout days.

Booking only the day before and getting an immediate real ticket is probably better than playing some standby game a week before and arranging your schedule to only not get the ticket.

The downside of that is that while it will be easy to get places, getting back might be painful.

Having to pay the taxes, seat, and carry on fees are actually about 80% of the real price.

Last, the auto renewal at $2000 scares me.

Anybody have any guesses on how many flights would make this worthwhile, especially without 100K status. Seems like 10+ round trips.
I am 50K and I figured it would take me about 14.5 LGA-MCO flights to be worthwhile, assuming I am on the hook for $5.60ish in fees. That's 7 round-trips, and with their once-a-day flights to LGA that just doesn't work for me.

Too bad we don't know what their status match plans are for next year. I could do a weekend out of a backpack if I really needed to, but it would be a lot nicer if I could bring a carry-on with me, even if I had to pay $100 for the "status" again.
