Me too, and I don’t personally believe the argument it’s all due to downwards fare pressure caused by customers. A £200 fare today would roughly equal a £100 fare in the mid 90s but even then the food in Y was more plentiful and higher quality. I distinctly remember booking domestic tickets for less than £100 at this time, like £80 to £90 return. It would appear that (some - including BA) airlines today are simply more profit focused and what used to be invested in the customer is now given back to shareholders.
But back in the good old days we did not have APD and PSC on the scale that we have now which makes it hard to compare even when adjusting for inflation.
