LHR to MAN, on BA.
Hardly a route with an epic feel. We were already about 45 mins late thanks to weird delays at the barriers at LHR. We then taxied out but had to return thanks to a problem with the stacking of cargo in the hold.
About 20 mins after the return we pushed back again, and the captain said something like 'WE'RE GOING TO BE SWIFT WITH TAKE OFF!', and I swear it was the sharpest, most enjoyably fun rolling take off I've ever experienced in my life.
Best part was, I was due for a specific thing at 9pm in Manchester. Originally, I'd left plenty of time; as it was, I got there at 9:10pm, despite all the delays, and in a way which actually benefitted the party I was with. And everyone else had taken the train (which had taken hours), so I got to be a bit smug about leaving LHR and being quite literally in the middle of Manchester 80 minutes later.
It's no flight 009, but I'll always look back fondly.
