ĦEl hotel magnifico y excelente! Okay, that was the extent of my five years of Spanish classes. Seriously, though, the Westin Palace was a fantastic property to start off my Spain and Italy trip. I wasn't even upgraded to a suite, and I still loved the ambience, courtesy, and comfort of this palatial property! Here are my pros, cons, and photos:

Pros:
  • Upgraded to an Executive King facing outwards on the 6th floor (no suites available online, and I didn't ask at check-in as my pre-assigned room was ready at 10:30 AM)
  • Bed was HEAVENLY - super thick covers, plush and non-lumpy pillows, plush yet just-right mattress - had a fantastic sleep from 5 PM to Midnight and then from 3 AM to 5:30 AM (thanks time change!)
  • Really beautiful detailing throughout the room - crown molding, door, toilet room glass door, bathroom door handle
  • Really fast and effective Wi-Fi
  • Internet TV OS with YouTube
  • Shower pressure was decent - wand was stronger than head, but head was still effective
  • Large bathroom with two sinks
  • Lots of closet space
  • Delivered a nice bottle of Spanish wine and nuts (though, I wish I had the plate of macarons that were sitting on the attendant's tray :-))
  • Excellent and delicious Elite breakfast buffet under one of the most beautiful domes I've seen - fantastic omelets, Iberian ham, delicious banana smoothie, coffee with milk was sublime, delicious bacon, churros, and much more
  • Service at check-in and check-out from Carmen was super friendly - lots of chats about my travels and spent some time marking up a map for me of sites to see within a day
  • Just a beautiful property - the hallways, tiny elevators, exterior - it's all stunning
Cons:
  • Small exterior windows on the 6th floor
Overall, I would highly recommend!
