$105 is really not that far off from pre-ordering bags. That's the reason why I NEVER buy any light fare when I'm travelling as I always fly things home and I'd like the option to be able to check in a bag or two.

No idea if they upsell bag fare at the gate. I have seen that at HKG the check-in agent would tell people who have a lot of bags to actually up to business fare (they said it's slightly more expensive than checking in an extra bag) - this was a long time ago though.
