I'd be doing "full on tourist" with your start today - after breakfast, walk along the Embarcadero to Pier 39 and Fisherman's Wharf, stop for an Irish Coffee at the Buena Vista, and then, depending on my feet, walk back through Chinatown, or get a ride back and then walk around some stores (probably around Union Square).

I'd then grab a bite at Tu Lan (6th and Market) - sketchy as all can be over there, but the Imperial Rolls and Lemon Beef Salad make tripping over people and their needles worth it.

If you still need a mall proper, Westfield SF Center is a long block to the Northeast from there (5th and Market).
