Got SSSSed on a domestic connection from GIG a couple of weeks age, not in Brazil. Very early arrival into IAH and no Pre-Check anyway. I accidentally pulled out my TWIC (Transport Worker Identification Credential) instead of my CAC(DOD ID) and got an even more perfunctory look than usual of my carry-ons and a quick wanding after the scanner. Reprinted my BP at the club and no SSSS. Rather surprised that I got it after I got to the US, it's happened enough coming back outside the US that I'm not really surprised.
In my case TSA must have realized that those of us that have them are already cleared by the USG to be allowed access to sterile areas of all transportation modes after meeting the local requirements. If you don't have a TWIC then you can't be cleared by the facility for un escorted access with very few exceptions (non US flight crew by their plane for an outside inspection is the classic example but they've already cleared security anyway). A friend, now retired from CBP, told me a couple of years back that the TSA had been lit up a couple of years before because their rules had exempted them from having them and lots of other agencies (CBP, local law enforcement, USCG, FAA, etc.) got very upset and even started making TSA get screened and escorted when they were going to work, along with some formal security breach reports as well that caused DHS to reconsider and make them get a TWIC.
