That’s correct. Unfortunately that’s QR’s standard policy. You would only be permitted to Platinum Lounge as a oneworld Emerald passenger on an Avios upgraded ticket. Whilst it is smaller and not as grand as the Al Mourjan, the Platinum Lounge is still a decent lounge and a lot better than many other airline lounges across the World.
wow, just wow. I was flying mainly with BA+AA and occasionally with AY but never with QR. Their policies are kind of sad, because the benefits of OW status is basically non-existent. So if I am traveling on QR operated flight on standard economy ticket I am not entitled to visit the Platinum lounge with my OW Emerald status? :/ or did I misunderstood the part with Avios upgraded ticket?
