Relatively new to IHG (just got the cc and now have ~150k points to use) and I have a reservation at the Holiday Inn Express Rotterdam, only to find out that none of their rooms have safes (much less closets). I wrote the hotel and they confirmed they do not have them. I haven't had this experience at many hotels, so this is a surprise. I'm likely to burn my recently severely devalued Radisson points and switch to one of their hotels instead (for example, even their Park Inn hotels have in-room safes).
The hotel did offer:
We do not have safes in the room we do have safes in our luggage room so if you come down to reception they will open the room for you and their you can put your stuff in a locker.
Yet, I find this overly cumbersome if I need to access it twice a day.
In any case, should I expect none of the Holiday Inn Express hotels to have safes? Or is this a property by property decision? Or regional? TIA.
