My thoughts exactly. I used to love Athenee but I have seen too many bad reviews to think it's simply a one-off disgruntled guest with unrealistic expectations - there is something going on here and it makes me hesitant to return.
Marriott Surawongse is one of the best Marriotts in the world but nonetheless it should not kick the butt of a Luxury Collection hotel like it does. One of the few strong points of Athenee remains drinks for happy hour (no longer food) and even for that, considering that Marriott Surawongse offers cocktails, it is not getting blown away by Athenee in that regard.
