Just a data point, booked a refundable charge from Planet Hollywood in Vegas this month and the $200 credit posted 2 days later. I'll wait a few months and then cancel, and by that point my Airbnb charge will have been there 3 billing statements so they'll have no recourse to take it back (Airbnb charge was not refunded and is being used this week).
