Interesting. I got the premium elite card to use for unbonused spend (~3.2% return). It was replacing the double cash card after the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life. (And constant random declines, security holds, etc.)

So I was quite concerned about this because the BofA card would be used by my partner and needs to “just work”. Pleasantly surprised so far. Customer service has been good and absolutely no issues using the card. This includes some big ticket purchases and travel. So it may be that you get better service and a sane algorithm with this “elite” card . (in quotes because it’s still BofA at the end of the day…)
