Or is the TG service worth the less spacious seating? All replies from experienced TG flyers welcome!

Full fare long haul in C on TG are not worth the price.
To Europe from BKK in full fare C, I would take CX (transfer in HKG instead of transfer in Europe) as they have the new flat seats. Failing that on direct flights, maybe AF if the new seats are available. If you need to stay on a *A carrier why not try SQ with a transfer in SIN (it should be the same price if full fare with a X in SIN)
BA or QF (if new seats for QF) would be good also for a night flight but I believe the fare is more expensive via LHR even with an X)

You could also route yourself with a transfer in CPH using TG from BKK to CPH. There TG uses a 747 with a F/C/Y configuration and F seats are available for grab at C class fares but with C class service

Good luck
