In reviewing my churning history, I saw that my most recent AmEx Delta Gold Biz card was closed in 2015. With 7 years often considered to be an AmEx “lifetime”, I’m wondering about the wisdom of applying again in the setting of multiple recent targeted NLL biz plat and gold approvals.
I’ve been approved for 6 biz plats and 4 biz golds in the past 20 months. All instant approvals except a biz gold pop-up offer (for which I was over eager) declined at 2.5 months from previous biz gold (subsequent snail mail offer application at 3.1 months instant approval, shoulda done a recon call) and a TOFTT* trial/test biz plat application at declined at 2 months from previous biz plat (subsequently approved in a brief recon call a month later). During that time I’ve been in pop-up jail for other AmEx applications: AmEx Business Green Rewards (for the SUB) 16 months ago, and AmEx Marriott Bonvoy Business (please don’t ask why 😉**) 18, 14, 13, 6, and 4 months ago (no credit pull so no discernable downside to a declined application). Next biz plat and biz gold applications planned for mid-December, looking at the 2 snail mail offers with 12/31/22 expiration dates.
I do not want to (further) jeopardize the NLL biz plat/gold gravy train. Would appreciate comments about the wisdom and prudence of applying for an AmEx Delta Gold Biz and/or an AmEx Marriott Bonvoy Business and (if recommended) the timing thereof.
(* TOFTT = took one for the team)
(** don’t frequent Marriott, thinking that I would transfer the SUB points to an airline program in which I otherwise wouldn’t have any activity … yeah, probably doesn’t make much sense)
