I've never been in a position to need/want to do a mattress run, but after seeing how close I am to platinum and only needing two more years of plat to hit lifetime - I figured I'll give it a go.

If I'm three nights short (at the moment) for this year, Can I:

1: Book three nights at a super cheap property and not show up?
2: Book three nights at a super cheap property and do online check-in?
3: Or do I physically need to check-in? There are enough places nearby where I could do this and then just go back home.
