Only the leadership in each house gets a Capitol Police security detail, and most of the rest of them don't like having obvious security (which they would have to self-fund) as it makes them seem less accessible to their constituents.
When I was on a flight with Eric Cantor (majority leader at the time) one of his staff/security presented the GA with some sort of paperwork. He and his staff/security were sitting in 1A-C and he had a police escort on arrival. I wondered if he was seated in row 1 for “security” reasons (last on with no visibility, first off) as opposed to paid upgrade.
Nonetheless, as his team checked bags they had to wait at the baggage carousel just like the rest of us.
