Is this true?
During the pandemic, the restrictions and masking requirements were enforced at the State and/or local level depending on the severity of cases according to the color coded system developed by state officials. At the Federal level, Mexico didn't have any restrictions as this was all enforced at the State and/or local level, some of which were bizarre.
At this point, the masking requirement has been left to each establishment.
Say you are in Cancun airport? Face masks required?
How about your resort/hotel etc.?
It depends if the signage is just a leftover from the days of the pandemic or they actually enforce it.
I have been a few hotels where face masks were required according to the signage, I complied during the check-in but stopped using it and the staff didn't bother me or other guests not using mask. I'm not sure why the signage is still there if they aren't doing anything about it. Airports also fall into the "it depends" category. This within a span of 2 months.
Mexican flagged airlines require the usage of face masks, as apparently this is still a requirement by Mexican aviation law according to the announcements.
Foreign flagged airlines will make announcements, if an particular Mexican airport requires face mask.
