I am a UAL retiree and unfortunately, no, you will not be allowed to enter a lounge (definitely not Polaris) unless of course you have a membership, pay the "visitor" fee or have annual passes with a Chase UAL MPlus Explorer credit card. But I agree with United totally. I don't have membership but I do have the explorer credit card and get two passes each year (like everyone else). The few times I've used them, I have found it's just another over-crowded, tiring, non-relaxed "experience" that I can live without. Hope you enjoy your travels, nonetheless.
