You are correct re: status just discounting membership cost -- with the exception of GS who currently (none of the UA people I've chatted with are convinced that this is a "permanent" benefit... but also none have heard anything about it ending)
Membership is membership is membership (except perhaps GS) -- I "pay" for my membership with PerksPlus Points and they just see me as a member when I scan in, likewise in the app -- and I haven't noticed anything in the membership card barcode that would indicate that that is a flag they're revealing for offline verifcation (e.g. partner lounges, though I cant think of the last time I needed anything other than the BP)

When you scan in the club GUI (I can't remember it's name off the top of my head) pops up your information -- I'm positive first/last name and MP/*A status are always there; I seem to recall seeing flight status (e.g. UA1234 ORD-XXX [On Time, Z12]) but I can't swear to it, similarly I want to say I've seen cabin/seat...but I'm also not pulling the mental image of how that is displayed. I've never had a SBY let alone NRSA BP to enter a club with so I don't
know that that info would be in the pop -- but I would also be a little surprised if it's not there, particularly if you haven't cleared onto the flight.
