Hilton Kansas City Country Club Plaza Hotel has opened about a month ahead of the originally announced date. As it is an all-suites hotel, you will guess that it was not newly built. Until recently, it participated in Bonvoy as a Sheraton Suites.

But still, if you're wondering like me: "What does a country club do in the middle of a metropolis, do they turn up by horse-drawn carriage to play golf?" Well, no, on the contrary, Country Club Plaza turns out to be a shopping and dining district, built in a unified Moorish style. According to Wikipedia, it opened exactly a century ago. In 1923 it was the first planned suburban shopping center in the U.S. and the first regional shopping center to accommodate shoppers arriving by car.
