So after approx T-48 many seats got taken (as per th EF seatmap, not blocked but taken to be more accurate). When I logged in to me reservation the 'taken' seats were not available for selection/ purchase. This is interesting as almost all 'PE' section seats were 'taken' (except few seats in the first row).
After the check in started the system assigned a seat to me which was not shown as taken before. However it is showing as taken after I started the check in process.
Not sure how this works and what this means - woould be good to know. Still 'blocking'/ 'taking'/ 'assigning' PE seats by the system after T-48 looks nonsense/ potential revenue loss to me as the setas for sure were not taken by the actual passengers and the 'taken' seats are not available for sale anymore.
An update from the check in desk: i was able to change my seat for free at the desk. I asked if all 'PE seats' are taken and the agent advised or rather complained to me that they are blocked and thet cannot sell. A strange story, would be strange to block premium seats from sale even for weight reasons (as there are plenty of other seats).
At least one fact follow from the above though: a taken seat in EF may actually be just blocked in reality.
