Cheaper to upgrade each seat with miles than by flight?
I went to book a spur-of-the-moment trip for next weekend and was planning to use a RUC, so I purchased a main cabin fare and then called in to apply the RUC. When booking I had the prompt to upgrade and it was stating 40,000 miles which is oddly what I used for my daughter on the same route for FC just a few months ago... But that's also not the point.
While I was waiting to get through the phone system I was clicking around and then noticed that I could select seats in first for just 14,000 miles one-way, so I just did that in order to save my RUCs for longer flights next year. Is this just a goof or has it always been this way?
