To be honest I've struggled with United since they moved to PQP based on revenue only and Plus Points. They've been extended multiple times but I think I've successfully used them once, even when I've purchased a more expensive fare. So I'm a bit burned out on them.
I'm considering burning down my miles for the upcoming trips I have while my elite status still gives me preferred availability, and then making a fresh start in 2022, when I know I have at least three trips to Europe and one trip to Australia/NZ in the first part of the year.

After burning UA ff miles and losing status do you want to stay with Star Alliance? Or Oneworld (AA AS) or Skyteam (DL)
AA & DL are also revenue based ffp's. BA is going to revenue based in 2023. The way ffp's are tending to:- frequent spender programs and less of a frequent flyer programs
Any of the alliances will get you to the international destinations.

Generally better to be a member of airline you fly most.
