although…semantics here…even in Y, there are usually seats blocked from assignment prior to checkin. Most (all?) narrowbody have 7DE blocked, and can not be selected until checkin. Also, if you have a reservation that includes a minor, exit rows will show as not available, even though they are available on the generic seatmap - obviously since minors can not sit in an exit row.
