We spent 12-days on Moloka'i in 2018. I will tell you there is not a lot to "do", and they like it that way. The island is magic, and I wish I had been able to take Peach back one last time. (Well, I will; I'll eventually take some of her ashes back.) Moloka'i is probably what Hawai'i was like before we ruined it.

Check Moloka'i Car Rental for a cheaper car; you are correct that Alamo is ridiculous. MCR will have the car waiting for you at the airport parking lot, and you leave it the same way. Amanda will also be able to give you more info.

One thing to note... the Locals really aren't crazy about tourists that act like tourists. Blend in; the best compliment that we received was being asked if we were newly Local.

Stop by Moloka'i Hot Bread https://molokaihotbread.com/. If you are there after dark, they do a sweat bread window in the back that is quiet... interesting!

I recall visiting Purdy's Macadamia Nut farm: Purdy's Natural Macadamia Nuts - Molokai, Hawaii. It was a cool way to kill a couple of hours. If your lucky, you'll be the only one's there and get a private tour.

Drive up to Kalaupapa Overlook and go for a short hike. https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attracti...ai_Hawaii.html
