As recently as this time last year, nobody had ANY idea what the post-pandemic recovery was going to look like, and an awful lot of us in heavily-affected industries were still very much in the trial-and-error phase of recovery, waiting for the next sudden wave to wash out the road ahead.
I absolutely agree with you that AC guessed wrong on this, but I have a hard time leaning too hard on the idea that it was an easy guess to get right.
I don't disagree with any of this. I know we all like to vent about AC and its many shortcomings, but \overrun airports and lounges in 2022 definitely aren't unique to AC.
My comment was mostly a response to the previous commenter who seemed to suggest that there was something laudable about the status quo because it's more egalitarian, which I think is a silly argument to make in the context of air travel.
